A multi-attribute review toward effective planning of end-of-life strategies for offshore wind farms

With many offshore wind turbines (OWTs) approaching the end of their estimated service life, there is an increasing demand for developing and evaluating end-of-life strategies that can maximize these assets’ value while at same time satisfying requirements stakeholders involved. This study aims to perform a detailed review develop framework will consider multiple criteria in decision-making process, presenting discussing available technologies strategies, as well influencing factors such schedule, cost environmental impact. Service life extension, repowering decommissioning are included this main considered by asset owners, translated into four processes applicable farms through generic decision tree. A SWOT analysis also conducted which compare different characteristics proposed processes. The contributing uncertainty lessons learnt from oil & gas industry discussed.
